Can an inverter be installed indoors or outdoors?

Inverters can be both indoors and outdoors be placed inside, but indoors is often better for longevity.

Indoor placement (recommended):

  • Cooler, dry and stable temperature (e.g. garage, basement or technical room).
  • Less exposure to weather conditions such as rain and UV radiation.

Outdoor seating (possible):

  • Only if the inverter has an IP65 or IP66 rating (dust- and water-resistant).
  • Hang in the shade (e.g. under a canopy) to prevent overheating.

Avoid placement in warm attics or directly in the sun, as heat can shorten performance and lifespan.
