• String inverter → Convert power from multiple panels simultaneously. Cheaper and more efficient at optimal sun position.
• Micro-inverters → Each solar panel gets its own inverter. Better at shade, different orientations or more complex roofs, but more expensive.

For small installations on a shade-free roof, a string inverter usually sufficient. For roofs with partial shade its micro-inverters or optimisers a better choice.
